I just did that interview / story telling yesterday. It really was a lot of fun and I can’t wait to see the final result. Thanks Daniel for this opportunity.

SJ STORY STORE

Interview Preparation

The goal of the SJ Story Store is to record and share the authentic and honest experiences of the people in our community. Since we will only have 30 minutes to do the recording, please show up with a few key life moments to share. To help you prepare for your talk, please follow these suggestions and tips:

1.Plan what you are going to share beforehand. Thinking in terms of a final 3- or 4-minute video, plan on a 7-minute story. This will help you focus, and will help us in the editing—as well as give us time to ask a few other questions during the session.

2.You won’t be able to tell a chronology of your life in seven minutes.

3.Consider these prompts (don’t feel the need to address all of them) for reflecting on a few key parts of your life that have formed you and that you could share*:

a) A person or experience that has influenced you in a powerful way

b) A moment in time or a season in life that stands out as critical to who you are and what you care about

c) A passion or contemplation that drives your curiosity and learning

d) An idea, thought, or philosophy that you keep in mind, or return to, that helps you navigate through life

There is no right way to use your seven minutes; however, stories we value and will use in this project will reflect a true and authentic disclosure of who you are and what you care about. We are looking forward to meeting you and hearing your story.
